Mitzvah #18 - Pray every day

It's a Mitzvah to pray to Hashem every day.

Prayer entails praising Hashem, then asking for ones needs and then thanking Hashem for all the kindness one has already received.

Praying requires concentrating on what one is saying, ignoring all else, and assuming one is standing in front of the Divine Presence.

One should not consider praying to be a burden that needs to be taken care of.

Applies to everybody, everywhere, all the time.

Pasuk: ..and you should worship Him (Devarim 6:13)

  3. It's Hashgocho Protis that for Mitzva #18, the title is "Pray every day". The main Tefilla that we say is called Shemoneh Esrei, which means 18! And, it is Chapter 18 of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch that comprises the Halachos of Shemoneh Esrei. In fact, the first letters of the title of this chapter - Hilchos Tefillas Shemoneh Esrei - which are Hei, Tov, Shin, Ayin, spells the number of this Hebrew year 5770! הלכות תפלת שמונה עשרה - ר"ת התש"ע

It's also interesting to note, that today - 11 Marcheshvan - is the Yahrzeit of Rochel Imeinu, who is especially marked as the mother of the Jewish people who prays and cries for us even in Shomayim.
